We Made It! Well...kind of

We made it!

We flew into the Lusaka yesterday morning really early and Wes was there to pick us up. We ended up having to stay overnight in Lusaka because the orphanage has been having a LOT of trouble with all three of their vehicles lately and we had to wait for it to get fixed. It wasn't too bad though because Dane and I were really tired from the 10 hour flight so we got to take a nap and then went to the stoor with Wes to get our groceries to take to the orphanage.

We left Lusaka early this morning to start the 5 hour drive to the orphanage. We had to pick up a van in Choma on the way, a town about an hour from the orphanage, that had just gotten fixed. Well, it turns out that it must not have been quite fixed because we are currently sitting on the side of the road with Wes because the van broke down. We are waiting for the mechanic to come out to fix it so we can get to the orphanage.

Some of what we are seeing out here
Dane and Wes in the broken down bus

Wes will drive the van the rest of the way and DANE will drive the other vehicle! They drive on the opposite side of the road here so that will be quite the adventure :)

One good thing about this is I actually have internet out in the bush on the side of the road-woo hoo! It's because today we went and set up an internet stick with my computer in Choma (my only option for internet with my computer). They said the stick doesn't always get the best reception at the orphanage but somehow it is perfect out here on the road in the middle of nowhere! It's limited but it's working okay for now so I wanted to update this and let you all know we got here okay. We are excited to get to the orphanage after quite a delay and we can't wait to meet all the cutie kiddos :)

Despite the vehicle stuff holding us back from getting to the orphanage, it has been a really fun experience so far!! We've had a good time getting some quality time with Wes and some time to acclimate to Zambia a little bit before we jump into daily life and work. We are seeing a lot of new things and have been able to meet quite a few sweet people that Wes has known in the towns we've been through.

We haven't seen any elephants or anything yet- although I did see a goat being "processed" for meat right on the side of the road when we were driving- ick! But we're seeing a lot of pretty trees and other nature on our drive. We are feeling good and are really excited to get started here and see how life is at the orphanage!

Please pray for the orphanage vehicles to stop having problems. They have been experience constant issues like this for the last 3 weeks causing Wes to be gone from New Day a lot. The kiddos are missing him. Also pray for us getting settled in here and just that we would be open to new experiences. Pray for our patience and for God to use us in the lives of these people in whatever way He wants to.

Love,

Bailey
